Got this damn scanner that loads up as soon as my laptop is turned on. Company name is OnPay Inc, and they are trying to say the fix is something I need to pay for.

Anyone experienced this? Better yet know how to resolve it? I’ve tried loading up in safe mode and doing system restores but no success :/

There are many different forms of malware out there.  Some try to collect information about you.  Some try to hijack your computer and use it for nefarious purposes.  Others simply try to scare you into giving up your money.  NEVER EVER send money to a company like this.  Their “fix” will result in you losing your money, having your banking account compromised, and the virus reappearing not too long after when the company wants more of your money.

The best thing to do when you believe you have malware on your computer is to boot into safe mode with networking, install and update Malwarebytes, and let Malwarebytes scan your computer and delete the malware.

Malwarebytes offers both a free and paid version of their software.  For malware removal, the free version will work just fine.  Here’s the product description according to their website:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free utilizes Malwarebytes powerful technology to detect and remove all traces of malware including worms, trojans, rootkits, rogues, dialers, spyware and more.

After scanning and deleting malware with Malwarebytes, restart your computer and do a complete computer scan with your regular anti-virus just to be safe. If you don’t have an anti-virus program, then you definitely need one!
